Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse Excited About Upcoming XRP Futures on CME Group

Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, expressed immense enthusiasm for the upcoming launch of XRP futures on the CME Group trading platform, describing it as a significant and long-awaited move.

According to a report by Coindesk, CME Group is set to launch XRP futures on May 19, pending approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

CME Group will introduce both standard and Micro XRP futures contracts, offering two different contract sizes. The standard XRP futures contract will include 50,000 tokens, while the Micro XRP futures contract will have a size of 2,500 XRP.

Both products will be settled in cash, providing investors with a leveraged way to trade XRP in a market known for its liquidity and depth. The smaller size of the Micro XRP futures contracts makes them suitable for a broader range of investors.

"This is an incredibly exciting step, signaling the continued growth of the XRP market!" Garlinghouse stated in a declaration.

"Although the market has already surpassed $150 million in sales volume over the last 7 days, it has long lacked support from a major futures platform like CME. Looking back at the scenario in March when Coinbase announced the rapid rollout of its futures products."

In March, Coinbase announced plans to launch futures products for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP in the second quarter of 2025. Shortly after, the cryptocurrency exchange rolled out futures products for Ethereum.

Earlier this month, Bitnomial began offering XRP futures to institutional investors.

CME has become a primary market for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana-related futures products. In the first quarter of 2025, CME averaged trading 198,000 contracts in these products.

The upcoming launch of new cryptocurrency futures products on CME Group is an event worth watching, first reported by Benzinga.
